2020 Louisville Slugger Meta (No Longer Prime) BBCOR Bat

2020 Louisville Slugger Meta (No Longer Prime) BBCOR Bat

The hottest BBCOR bat in a long time is back for an encore. The 2020 Louisville Slugger Meta BBCOR bat is a $499, two-piece, fully composite baseball bat for High School and College play. The only difference between the best selling 2019 Meta Prime and the 2020 Meta is the paint job has turned from red to blue, and Louisville Slugger dropped “Prime” from the name, now just calling the bat “Meta”.

The 2020 Meta BBCOR bat is the exact same bat as the 2019 Meta Prime BBCOR bat.

COMPOSITE

The 2020 Meta bat is the only bat in the 2020 Louisville Slugger BBCOR lineup that uses the “EKO” composite in its barrel, giving the Meta BBCOR bat close to a 1 inch larger sweet spot compared to the slightly lower priced 2020 Prime BBCOR bat.

CONNECTION

The Meta uses a 3FX connection between the handle and the barrel, giving the Meta a true “3-Piece” design which gives the hitter the Meta’s signature stiff feeling, while dramatically decreasing vibration. This is a small upgrade when compared to the smaller VCX connection on the 2020 Prime that sells for $50 less. When hitting both bats side by side, I could tell the Meta had a stiffer feel, but neither gave me any vibration in my hands.

SWING WEIGHT

The Meta BBCOR is balanced for easy swingability (made up word). Most high school hitters perform best with a balanced/lighter swinging BBCOR bat because lets the hitter swing faster and adjust/react to pitches faster. If you are a power hitter who hits a lot of home runs we suggest a bat like the 2020 Louisville Slugger Select PWR, which has a more end-loaded design.

The 2020 Meta BBCOR comes with a one year warranty against defects like cracking and breaking, but we did not hear of one 2019 Meta breaking. For added peace of mind, we offer free return shipping on all bat purchases so you’re never stuck with a bat you don’t want.
