2014 BBCOR Bat Review: Easton Mako vs Easton S1

A brand new baseball season is underway.  You’ve been searching for a 2014 BBCOR bat to reward your player for all the hard work he has put in during the off-season, and to give him that extra edge at the plate.  The list has been narrowed down, and Easton baseball bats stand on top as the clear winner!

2014 BBCOR Bat - Easton MakoAt CheapBats.com, we recently swung two of their top performing 2014 BBCOR bats: the 2014 Easton Mako and the 2014 Easton S1.  Both are two-piece composite bats, utilizing the latest in composite bat technology to expand the sweet spot of the barrel and maximize swing speed.  We decided to grade each bat on a number of different factors: balance of the bat, bat speed,  and vibration felt in the hands at the point of contact.  Here are the results.

The Mako

The Mako 2014 BBCOR bat lived up to it’s hype.  Due to Easton’s TCT Thermo Composite Technology, this bat is incredibly well balanced, has the largest sweet spot out of the entire Easton 2014 BBCOR bat lineup, and is lightning fast through the hitting zone.  Solid contact with minimal vibration was a constant with the Mako.  If you want a durable, high-performing BBCOR bat and price is not an issue, the 2014 Easton Mako is an excellent choice.

The S1

2014 BBCOR bat - Easton s1 Just like the previous Easton Speed Series baseball bats, the 2014 S1 BBCOR was created with speed and power in mind.  Drawing on their tried and true IMX Composite Technology, the weight of the S1 is evenly distributed through the barrel and extremely well balanced and quick through the zone.  No matter the location of contact, vibration in the S1 handle was practically non-existent.
