2016 Easton Mako BBCOR Baseball Bat Review (With and Without Torq)

It’s official… The hottest baseball bats from Easton for 2016 are the highly anticipated 2016 Easton Mako and Mako Torq.

Let’s take a look at what Makos (sorry) them the top choice among Easton Baseball Bats…

We spent a day hitting all four of the 2016 Easton BBCOR Mako and Mako Torq Bats. We noticed several things about the bats.

BBCOR Stamp

With the introduction of both a balanced and end loaded version of each, there is a Mako for power hitters and a Mako for line drive hitters.

There is absolutely NO vibration unless you really mis-hit the baseball. At no point during our testing did anyone experience unwanted sting or vibration in their hands. We literally had to TRY to hit the ball off the end of the bat to even feel any discomfort.

The swing weight is meticulously thought out for each of the bats. The balanced version is not overly balanced, and the end loaded XL models are not over-the-top heavy.

End-Loaded Mako BBCOR

End-Loaded Mako BBCOR

Four BBCOR Bats – There are two BBCOR Mako and two BBCOR Mako Torq bats for 2016.

Composite – Both the Mako and Mako Torq baseball bats use the best composite Easton has ever made. The TCT (Thermo Composite Technology) is light weight and strong, allowing Easton to make the sweet spot MASSIVE compared to other composite bats.

Two-Piece Technology – The 2016 Mako and Mako Torq also share the patented CXN (ConnXion) rubber piece connects the handle and the barrel, eliminating sting and vibration.

360 Handle (Torq models only) – The revolutionary 360 Easton Torq handle gives hitters a shorter path to the hitting zone. This allows batters to get the baseball bat to the ball faster, ultimately giving the swing more power to all fields, especially when the batter is jammed with an inside pitch.

Bat Comparison: 2016 Easton Mako vs 2016 DeMarini CF8

DeMarini and Easton have just released all-new baseball bats for 2016, which leaves some room for questions – for example – what’s the difference between the 2016 Easton Mako and the 2016 DeMarini CF8? We’re going to break it down with each particular type of bat, from BBCOR to Youth Big Barrel to Youth to Junior Big Barrel.

BBCOR -3oz Comparison:

Bat Duel - 2016 Easton Mako vs. 2016 DeMarini CF8

2016 Bat Duel: Easton Mako vs DeMarini CF8

DEMARINI CF8 BBCOR BASEBALL BAT – The CF8 BBCOR is constructed with a 2-Piece Design and crafted with 100% Paradox +Plus Composite material. This CF8 features the D-Fusion 2.0 Handle, which is new and improved from last year with even better energy transfer and less vibration/sting felt in the hands. The new grip is nice and tacky, while the bat overall just feels like it’s made for champions. It’s flawlessly put together with a great combo of balance & power, not to mention the insane pop it has once you’ve passed the 200+ hit break-in period.

EASTON MAKO BBCOR BASEBALL BATS – Easton has not one, not two, not three (LeBron?), but FOUR Mako BBCOR Bats for 2016! They got the balanced Mako, the end-loaded Mako XL, the balanced Mako Torq, and the end-loaded Mako Torq XL. All of these bats are made with a 2-Piece Design using the patented barrel-to-handle ConneXion piece, which connects the 100% TCT Composite barrel and handle. The energy transfer is fantastic and the bat is made to perform at this highest level for the most elite hitters. The balanced Mako and the end-loaded Mako XL have 1.2mm Hyperskin Bat Grip, while the balanced Mako Torq and the end-loaded Mako Torq XL have a 1.0mm Torq Tac Bat Grip. The Torq Taq is a HUGE improvement, as last year the Torq bats had a gauze grip that was not very popular amongst hitters. Having a great stock grip is very important on Torq bats because it’s more difficult to re-grip due to the rotating part of the handle that’s closest to the knob. With the four different Mako BBCOR models, Easton really does make a bat for every hitter. Balanced or end-loaded – Torq handle or not – Easton has you covered.

Youth Big Barrel, Youth, & Junior Big Barrel Comparison:

All of the CF8 & Mako Youth Big Barrel, Youth, & Junior Big Barrel Bats (except the Mako Junior Big Barrel) are constructed with the same materials as the BBCOR, all being 2-Piece crafted with their own brand of composite (CF8 with Paradox +Plus, Mako with TCT). Just like the BBCOR, Easton has more models to choose from due to the Mako Torq being available in most sizes. Below is a list of the models for each bat:

Youth Big Barrel:

2016 DeMarini CF8 2 5/8″ -5oz  -8oz  10oz

2016 DeMarini CF8 2 3/4″ -10oz

2016 Easton Mako XL 2 5/8″ -5oz  -8oz

2016 Easton Mako 2 5/8″  -10oz

2016 Easton Mako 2 3/4″ -10oz

2016 Easton Mako Torq 2 5/8″ -5oz  -8oz

2016 Easton Mako Torq 2 3/4″ -10oz

Youth:

2016 DeMarini CF8 2 1/4″ -11oz

2016 Easton Mako XL 2 1/4″ -10oz

2016 Easton Mako 2 1/4″ -11oz -12oz

2016 Easton Mako Torq 2 1/4″ -10oz

Junior Big Barrel:

2016 DeMarini CF8 2 3/4″ -11oz

2016 Easton Mako 2 3/4″ -12oz

It’s amazing how these two brands, which are HUGE in the baseball world, have such a different approach. You have DeMarini, as always, staying with their traditional models and improving upon them each and every year. Then you have Easton, who probably has as many bat models themselves as the rest of the bat world has combined, continuing to strive for new ways to engineer greatness. While some of you buy simply because you have a name brand preference, it’s tough to say that one is better than the other. No matter which way you go – know this – your friends won’t have a better bat than you.

2015 Easton BBCOR Series

2015 Easton BBCOR Series

The Easton 2015 BBCOR Power Brigade is probably the most highly anticipated bats ever due to the addition of the innovative, revolutionary Mako Torq and the new Z-Core aluminum. All six of these monsters have three things in common: long barrels, fast swing speeds and a drop -3 length to weight ratio for overwhelming power. Here they are . . .

1. 2015 Easton Mako Torq BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB15MKT)

The 2015 Torq is crafted with TCT Thermo Composite Technology to maximize the durability and potential of the sweet spot. This 2-piece is connected using Easton’s ConneXion Technology for incredibly energy transfer between the handle and the barrel for an optimized feel, while still limiting vibration to the hands. Last, but definitely not least, is the game changing 360 Torq Handle!

This insane feature allows the bottom of the handle and gauze grip closest to the knob to rotate, allowing the players bottom hand to rotate as they progress through their swing into and out of the hitting zone, dramatically improving follow through. This will result in more pitches being squared up with more power, more often! The Mako Torq is, without a doubt, the best BBCOR bat Easton has ever made.

2. 2015 Easton Mako BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB15MK)

The most popular BBCOR bat of 2014 is back! The 2015 Mako is put together using advanced TCT Thermo Composite Technology, increasing durability and the potency of the sweet spot! Once again made as a 2-piece, the Mako barrel and handle are locked together using the patented ConneXion Technology. This connection keeps vibration to the hands in check as players hold the performance diamond grip, while also priming the sweet spot for ridiculous performance! The Mako BBCOR gives hitters the power they want while still having an optimized, balanced feel going through the hitting zone.

3. 2015 Easton S1 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB15S1)

Made with an IMX Advanced Composite, the 2015 S1 features a massive barrel and unmatched bat speed for hitters to utilize! The composite barrel is connected to the vibration-eliminating SIC Carbon Handle using the ConneXion Technology for an optimized feel and proper energy transfer. Hold on to the performance diamond grip, utilize that balanced swing weight and you’ll be rounding the bases with this S1 BBCOR on your side!

4. 2015 Easton XL1 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB15X1)

Made with an end load weighting, the 2015 XL1 is made for high school and collegiate power hitters who want the meatiest of barrels! The end load means that Easton kept more weight at the end of the bat to increase the mass and power of the sweet spot. The XL1’s IMX Composite barrel and SIC Carbon Handle are connected, making it a 2-piece, by the ConneXion Technology to give hitters limited vibration and a strong, sturdy feel at the plate. The XL1 BBCOR has the biggest, longest barrel of the entire Easton BBCOR Power Brigade!

5. 2015 Easton S2Z BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB15S2Z)

As the only hybrid Easton BBCOR bat in 2015, the S2Z gives hitters the best of composite and the best of alloy material all in one bat! Using Z-Core Technology, which is a tool to strengthen the internal core of the bat, Easton dramatically improves the strength and durability of the barrel. The barrel is made with Hyperlite Matrix Alloy, which is the best alloy material on the market, giving the sweet spot a lot to work with! Made as a 2-piece, the alloy barrel is connected to the SIC Carbon Handle with Easton’s patented ConneXion Technology, giving the S2Z awesome energy transfer with limited sting in the hands while holding the performance diamond grip.

6. 2015 Easton S3Z BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB15S3Z)

If you want a 1-piece, traditional bat then the 2015 S3Z for BBCOR is what you’re looking for! Easton crafts this bad boy with the best alloy material in the game, Hyperlite Matrix Alloy, for an expanded sweet spot and greater durability. Using an internal core improvement method, the patented Z-Core Technology, Easton gives players a strong bat with a massive barrel. The S3Z also comes with performance diamond grip and a tapered handle. Step up to the plate with the most feared 1-piece BBCOR certified bat of 2015!

ALL of these bats come with a BBCOR certified stamp on them so they can be used in High School and Collegiate levels. Get your 2015 Easton BBCOR bat with no hassle returns at CheapBats.com.

2015 Easton Mako vs Mako Torq

2015-Easton-Torq-Vs-Mako-Baseball-Bats-Duel2015 Easton – Mako vs. Mako Torq

Easton’s bats are always highly advanced, incredibly constructed and right at the top as far as popularity. Easton is obviously dedicated to creating nothing short of elite performance. Let’s just say the 2015 Easton series of bats aren’t an exception to that. In fact, they’re better! This year’s lineup, however, is dominated by the two big dogs: The returning, improved Mako and the new, green Mako Torq.

What are the differences between the 2015 Easton Mako and the 2015 Easton Mako Torq?

I’m glad you asked! Let’s get to the bottom of it…

First, let’s go through all the things that they have in common, which is quite a bit. They are both simply a work of art, crafted with 100% TCT Thermo Composite Technology. This composite material is the best in the game! It truly maximizes the potential in every phase, especially the sweet spot in the barrel. Both of these bats are also a 2-piece, connected using Easton’s patented CXN ConneXion Technology, which efficiently transfers energy and gives the bat an optimized feel.

For Fastpitch softball only Easton took that even further and made the ZERO CXN ConneXion Technology. This connection was engineered to completely eliminate vibration, hence the ZERO, and give Softball girls the best in performance!

Now… the Mako and the Mako Torq differ in a few ways…  one of which that is an industry changing feature that is bound to start a trend!

We’ll start with the grip, with the Mako sporting Easton’s signature performance diamond grip while the Mako Torq has black and white gauze grip. They both give hitters what they need, so that just comes down to a preference. Another difference is the color design as the Mako returns with its orange look, while the Mako Torq has a “Torq” green color that lets everyone know who has the newest, baddest bat in town! The glaring way they differ is Easton incorporated the brand new 360 Torq Handle Technology on the Mako Torq. The bottom of the handle and the grip closest to the knob can actually be rotated!

How does the 360 Torq Handle benefit you? It allows hitters to square up more pitches by allowing the bottom hand to rotate while the bat is going through the hitting zone. This keeps the barrel in the zone longer and ultimately gives the hitter more power, more often! This technology is what makes the Mako Torq priced a little higher than the Mako, rightfully so.

One last difference is the leagues Easton made them to play in…

They both have an edition for Fastpitch Softball and also BBCOR, Big Barrel and Youth baseball. However, only the Mako comes in a Junior Big Barrel for baseball, while the Mako Torq does not.

The verdict? Give me one and i’ll approach the plate with the utmost confidence! It all comes down to, besides the difference in grip type, whether you want to pay a few bucks more for the brand new technology – the Torq handle. Other than that they are almost identical.

You can get both of these 2015 Easton powerhouses, the Mako and the Mako Torq, with a 12 month manufacturer’s warranty and no hassle returns at CheapBats.com.

2015 Easton Mako Torq for Fastpitch Softball

2015 Easton Mako Torq for Fastpitch Softball

If you’re a Fastpitch softball player looking for the bat to help take your game to the next level… Easton may just be your new best friend. Introducing THE 2015 Fastpitch bat to have – the Mako Torq!

The Mako Torq is the alpha dog in Easton’s 2015 Fastpitch Power Brigade and is created using TCT Thermo Composite Technology, which is 100% composite material that gives you all the strength and durability you could ever want in a bat. Constructed as a 2-piece, where the barrel and the handle are connected with the Easton’s new ZERO ConneXion Technology, giving off ZERO vibration to the hands and providing the most efficient energy transfer possible. This allows for a true optimized feel and the best performance in the game. Easton made this ZERO connection because of girls softball players specifically asking for fastpitch bats without sting. Girls… Easton has delivered!

What separates the Mako Torq from the rest of the fastpitch lineup is the new 360 Torq Handle Technology!

This allows the bottom of the handle and grip closest to the knob to actually rotate! Yes, rotate! So, when the bat is going through the hitting zone, the bottom hand can rotate along with the handle allowing your hands and wrists to stay as comfortable exploding through the ball and leaving the hitting zone as they were entering the hitting zone, while also keeping the barrel in the zone longer. This results in pitches being squared up more often, with more power! It’s almost not fair… but that’s a pitcher’s problem.

This Torq comes as a drop -10 in length to weight ratio with an extra-long barrel, ultra-thin composite Torq handle and gauze grip. While being available in 31”/21oz, 32”/22oz, 33”/23oz and 34”/24oz, the Torq also sports the 1.20 BPF USSSA thumbprint and ASA stamps right on the handle. Also approved for play by NSA, ISA, ISF and SSUSA.

You can get your 2015 Mako Torq Fastpitch Softball Bat with a 12 month manufacturer’s warranty and no hassle returns at CheapBats.com.

5 Best BBCOR Bats Of 2014

It’s the new year and all the major bat company’s have brought their best 2014 BBCOR bats to the field.  Cheapbats.com is here to give you a quick break down of the top 5.

2014 Mako BBCOR Bat by Easton

2014 Easton Mako BBCOR

Sporting goods industry leader Easton has possibly made the hottest BBCOR bat of 2014. Introducing the new TCT Thermo Composite Technology. Easton has this composite running from knob to end cap in it’s all new BBCOR bat.   Combining both of their previous two best BBCOR bats, Easton made it’s biggest, strongest, lightest BBCOR barrel ever. They joined the handle and barrel together using their patented two piece Connexion technology to remove as much discomfort to the hands as possible.  This mixture of experience and technology has produced arguably the best Easton BBCOR ever.

2014 Demarini CF6 BBCOR Bat

2014 Demarini CF6 BBCOR

Demarini used the Paradox Composite in both the handle and barrel of this BCOR bat, but discovered a new way to connect the bats with their the D-fusion technology.  This connecting piece takes any lost energy in the barrel that would otherwise sting your hands, and redirects it back into the ball. This gives Demarini the biggest and hottest sweet spot they could design.

2014 Marucci Elite BBCOR Bat

2014 Marucci Elite

Marucci worked on making the Elite a more balanced BBCOR this year by taking out some end load. This more balanced 3 piece Elite BBCOR bat from Marucci is a proven winner on the field. And with a more balanced, better feeling bat your sure to enjoy the performance this bat gives through the swing zone.

2014 Louisville Slugger Attack BBCOR Bat

2014 Louisville Slugger Attack BBCOR

Made with the TRU3 Technology this 3 piece bat is hot out of the wrapper. Using a extra wide composite pattern called The Pure 360, Louisville made their strongest, lightest BBCOR ever. To reinforce barrel strength they also put in a 1 inch graphite insert. Combine this with the Attack’s socket connection piece, designed to give you the greatest potential of power on impact, and eliminate all vibration, and you have a true hunter on the field.

2014 Rawlings TRIO BBCOR Bat

2014 Rawlings Trio BBCOR

Rawlings is also using a three piece BBCOR bat this year and it’s a beast! With a 5150 POP alloy barrel, and Rawlings Trio technology composite handle, you’d think that would be enough, but it’s not for them. They also threw in the Comp Lite End Cap that has 36% more carbon fibers in it than most standard end caps. This makes the BBCOR extremely light feeling and transfers that through the hitting zone for a superior performance.

Best Selling BBCOR Bats In Early 2014

The all new Mako BBCOR bats from Easton is leading the way so far in 2014 for BBCOR sales here at CheapBat.com

Easton BBCOR Bats

A close 2nd place is the DeMarini Vexxum NVS BBCOR. With the balanced swing weight, and affordable price (less than half the cost of the Mako BBCOR), the 2014 Vexxum will no doubt continue to be at the front of the Best Sellers list in our BBCOR Bats section.

Vexxum NVS BBCOR Baseball Bat

Vexxum NVS BBCOR

Another bright spot in the lineup of 2014 Adult Bats is the Rip It Air Elite. The two piece Air Elite bat uses a composite handle and an acoustically tuned aluminum alloy barrel with rifled grooves all the way down the barrel, allowing the Air to be one of the lightest alloy barreled BBCOR bats ever produced in the BBCOR Standard era.

The Easton S1 and the DeMarini CF6 have quickly risen to the top of our charts as well. The balanced swing weight of these two bats helps keep them popular with the majority of baseball players. While on the high end of the pricing spectrum, both of these 2014 bats will help to increase your production at the plate.

Last but not least is the DeMarini Voodoo Overlord. The Overlord BBCOR has an end loaded weight distribution. Geared towards power hitters, the new Voodoo with the Pitch Black composite in the handle, is one of the strongest and most powerful bats available today. Because of the slight end load, the Voodoo is more popular among power hitters, but anyone with good bat speed will have no problem at all swinging this latest BBCOR bat to come out of the DeMarini composite lab just outside of Portland, Oregon.

Give us a call if you have any questions about these bats or any of the great BBCOR bats on Cheapbats.com

Easton MAKO – The 2014 Bat of the Year

Easton Mako 2014The Easton MAKO by the creators of the Power Brigade series of baseball and softball bats have worked to improve their products further for the 2014 line of bats. The bats from Easton were recently released and feature several improvements from the previous models. Their 2013 line of bats were some of the most popular found across the country and the 2014 line should be much of the same.

The most anticipated bat from Easton’s line is the Easton MAKO. This bat can be found for those competing in many different age levels and leagues including youth, adult and senior league baseball, as well as fastpitch softball. This bat was designed by Easton to be the fastest through the zone, making it the perfect bat for those who already have quick hands and a great tool for those that aren’t as quick through the strike zone.

The Easton MAKO was constructed with TCT Thermo Composite Technology. The use of this material increased the length of the barrel, while reducing MOI and giving batters a huge sweet spot to make contact with. The fastpitch model of this bat is already one of the most popular bats Easton has ever released and will only become more popular as players get to swing it during game action.

One thing Easton did with their 2014 MAKO bats was give baseball players of any age the chance to swing one of these high-quality bats.
